Bio: Zachary Watne is a PhD Student in the Department of Sociology. Born and raised in Salt Lake City, UT I have experienced a whole spectrum of experiences at the college and university levels. I began my academic career at a small community college and after completing two A.S. Degrees (Psychology, Sociology) I transferred to the University of Utah (locally called the “U of U”) where I finalized my undergraduate education with a B.S. Degree in Sociology, along with a Business Minor and formal Certification from the Honors College. During my tenure at the “U of U” I was the Co-President, then President, of the Sociology Student Advisory Committee, the Chair of the Alpha Kappa Delta Honors Committee, and a member of the Honors College Student Advisory Committee.
I received an M.A. from Colorado State University in Sociology and I am currently pursuing my PhD (in the same field) with the intention of becoming a professor at a research institution when I graduate (anticipated date: 2014). I am currently looking at how the values and rewards of different occupational situations influence job satisfaction and how (and if) those have changed over time in the U.S.
