The International Partnerships area of the Office of International Education promotes the development of invaluable collaborative relationships between the University of Georgia and institutions abroad by guiding and assisting faculty members in the establishment and advancement of student and faculty exchanges, study abroad opportunities, joint research programs, seminars, workshops, and service learning.  International Partnerships seeks to support the intercultural education of University of Georgia students, the role of University of Georgia faculty and staff in dynamic and critical global research, and the overall internationalization of the University of Georgia.

The Graduate Assistant in this position will assist the staff in the international partnerships area with various duties, primarily involving research and report writing related to emerging topics in international higher education, university evaluations, and summary reports of UGA international activities.  Other duties may include assisting with the implementation and processing of new and renewing collaborative agreements as well as with the hosting of visitors and dignitaries. Keen attention to detail and superior organization skills along with strong research and writing skills are requisite. Additionally, the GA must be able to work effectively with a diverse population in a multi-cultural environment.  An interest in the internationalization of higher education is strongly desired. The successful candidate may have the option to renew for a second year.

GAPS and GSA Mentor Program

The Graduate School Outreach & Diversity Office (ODO) is looking for graduate students that are available and interested to serve as a peer mentor for 1st year incoming graduate students pursuing master’s and doctoral level degrees in the following academic fields:

  • Philosophy
  • Psychology
  • Sociology
  • Institute for Higher Education


 

The program GRO (Graduate Recruitment Opportunity) Assistantship is coordinated annually by the ODO as one of our many efforts to recruit and retain students from underrepresented backgrounds. Our office supports the transition and matriculation of each GRO student via frequent communication, professional development workshops/events and organized mentorship. All volunteer mentors would be asked to meet with their mentee at least three times/semester for both the fall and spring.
