The Graduate Student Association (GSA) is a representative student government and advocacy group working for over 8,000 graduate and professional students at the University of Georgia. We advance student rights and interests, hold exciting socials, organize community service events, and keep students informed about issues relevant to graduate student life at UGA.

The last official GSA meeting of the semester took place on April 20, 2010. Thank you to everyone who attended.
The meeting included an introduction of the incoming 2010-2011 GSA Officers, an update on graduate student health insurance, and a discussion of GSA goals for next year.

Last week the GSA Officer Elections ended with Jason O'Rouke (Public Administration) winning the presidency, Lauren Moret (Education Administration and Policy) winning the vice presidency, and Richard Kerr (Veterinarian Medicine) choosing to serve as GSA Chief of Staff and Secretary.

What: GSA Social/Philanthropy/Art Event!
When: April 16th from 7:00-9:00pm
Where: Walkers Pub (downtown Athens)
The GSA is hosting a percentage night at Walkers Pub located in downtown Athens on April 16th from 7-9pm. Ten percent of the sales will be donated to The Cottage, a local non-profit organization which provides support services for victims of sexual violence.
Not only is this a great opportunity to meet new people from around campus and to raise money for a worthy organization, art from around campus will also be showcased! A UGA student art exhibit will be located upstairs at Walkers Pub while downstairs will host various performance art events.

The elections results are in and Jason O'Rouke and Tyler Suggs were the top winners. Without either one of them receiving 50% of the overall vote we will be having a runoff election from April 12 at 8:00am to April 15 at 5:00pm. During that time graduate students can vote through their Oasis account https://oasisweb.uga.edu/
In terms of the Vice President position Lauren Moret won and will be serving next year as the GSA VP.
