Video: Address to Incoming Graduate Students at UGA

August 26, 2009

On August 12, the Graduate Student Association partnered with the Graduate School to welcome incoming graduate students to UGA.  Will Rooks, president of the Graduate Student Association, encouraged students to get involved in activities on campus.  Following orientation, vice-president Robert Shostak, secretary Jenna Drenten, chief of staff Ashley Dean and Lindsey Tuominen provided information about GSA to students at the Graduate Information Fair.  Following the fair, Jenna and Lindsey provided a campus bus tour.  Finally, GSA organized a lunch reception at the Miller Learning Center.  Providing entertainment for the reception was Dr. McCutchen's steel drum band.

We owe a special thanks to Lisa Thurmond and the Georgia Federal Credit Union, our Orientation Partner, for providing lunch to over 200 people.  Thank you to Pat Hale at Athens Transit for providing buses for the campus tour.  Thank you to Matt Winston and Dr. Adams for providing entertainment at the GSA reception.  We also owe a debt of gratitude to Judy Milton and everyone at the Graduate School for making this event such a success!
